I think the new Modern D neck profile will be a crucial factor for many players, and may prove decisive for the success of these new guitars. Fender American Ultra Series vs Elite: The Verdict. Now if you're talking about the current series called the "Deluxe" - that series is made in Mexico so yes the American Ultra is above the Mexican-made Deluxe series. It's a relentlessly reliable and undeniably versatile instrument, and no matter your playing style, budget, or creative tastes, a Telecaster is always a safe bet when deciding which electric guitar is right for you. Fender went with "American Elite" when they did an update at the beginning of 2016, and the Elite replacement that came out a month ago is the "American Ultra". Fender has made an array of changes here. For 2020, Fender’s flagship American Elite line has been superseded by a new series: American Ultra.Although American Elite instruments were only introduced to the catalogue at Winter NAMM 2016, at the launch of Fender’s Songs learning app in New York back in October, Fender CEO Andy Mooney explained that the company had streamlined its product lifecycle from seven to four years. The new Ultra series swaps the Tele Thinline for a Jazzmaster and, at launch, there’s no sign of a left-handed model. The Fender Telecaster's straightforward, streamlined, and simple design has been at the forefront of guitar music since the early 1950s. No new Fender series would be complete without including the guitar that started it all: the iconic Telecaster.Like its American Elite counterpart, the American Ultra Telecaster sports a slimline body, with stylish binding, and the aforementioned Modern "D"-shaped neck profile with a tapered heel. The outgoing Elite series consisted of five models: a Strat in SSS and HSS pickup configurations, a Tele and Tele Thinline, plus a lefty Strat. If you want vintage looks but with modern playability, then these will be the Fender models for you going forward.
